Wildsight is pleased to share information about our upcoming summer course: The Columbia River Field School.
The Columbia River Field School 2019 is a multidisciplinary, locally-developed Board/Authority Approved (BAA) course. Students from any school district in the Columbia Basin may earn four high school credits upon successful completion, through School District 8 (Kootenay Lake).
The Field School is an opportunity for 16 Columbia Basin youth to take up paddles and navigate the complex social, economic and natural history of the mighty Columbia River. Traveling by canoe through key sections of the river, participants will learn from local expert voices as varied as the river itself. Participants will gain important canoe and camping skills, will earn certifications from the Recreational Canoe Association of BC and will be inspired to engage and help shape the future of the Columbia River.
The program runs from August 15-28.
