Interested in Being a Parent Advocate?

Please see the note below from the District PAC
Greetings SD8 Parents,

Are you compassionate and willing to help people? Do you strive to follow procedures and processes and feel the need to speak up when they don’t make sense? These are just a couple of the skills needed for a parent advocate. Parent Advocacy Training – Level One will help you help parents navigate the sometimes complicated and confusing public school system. Level One will provide an overview of what Advocacy is, and isn’t, as well as review the need for confidentiality and a code of conduct. We will also work through a few common scenarios often affecting families in our school district.

DPAC will be offering Parent Advocate Training on Oct 27 from 11-3 with Susan Wilson. If you are interested in receiving training to be a parent advocate please contact us to register for this FREE training in Nelson.

Thank you,

Jenny Henri
