Coldest Night of the Year

For the 4th year, we will be forming a team for the Coldest Night of the Year event, happening on Saturday, February 24th starting late afternoon. The Coldest Night of the Year is a fantastically fun, family-friendly walking fundraiser that raises money for the hungry, homeless and hurting in over 100 communities across Canada. In Nelson, proceeds of the walk go to Nelson CARES Society and their Room to Live Campaign. Their goal is to provide safe, affordable housing that supports people’s dignity. Specifically, they will continue to renovate rooms at Ward Street Place, an affordable housing complex located a block away from our school.

Adults are asked to raise $150 in donations or pay a registration fee of $25 before Feb. 19 ($40 after Feb. 19). Youth 11+ are asked to raise $75 or pay the same registration fee. Children 10 and under are free to attend the event. In the past, attendees have received a toque, hot drinks along the walk (the chai stop is de-lish!), and a free chili dinner at the end.
