New Non-Instructional Days for 2015-16 Calendar

The B.C. Ministry of Education has added non-instructional time to our 2015-16 calendar to assist in the roll out of the redesigned provincial curriculum. The SD8 (Kootenay Lake) calendar committee has chosen to utilize this time on January 15, 2016 and April 22, 2016. These dates have been added to our calendar as non-instructional days and an updated calendar has been published by the School District.
On January 15 and April 22, teachers and principals/vice principals will be meeting at organized sessions across our District to study the redesigned curriculum and begin the planning for the transition beginning in September 2016.
We invite you to visit the Ministry of Education curriculum webpage (https://curriculum.gov.bc.ca/) or our local site (https://sd8learns.sd8.bc.ca/curriculum/ ) to learn more about the work happening across our province to support the changing needs of our students. We also invite you to contact your child’s school principal for more information.
