Hot Lunch Ordering Open for January – March

Hello Parents

Ordering is now open for lunches using MunchaLunch.com. Lunches for the winter term are being offered on Tuesday and Wednesday until spring break.  Sushi is back every second Tuesday, alternating with either Mac and Cheese or Thai-rice noodle salad, both offered by Frantastic Foodz.  On Wednesdays, real.good.food will offer salad bar alternating with a warm rice bowl with a selection of protein and veggie toppings. For more information regarding menu and suppliers see below.

Orders are due on Friday, January 10.  First lunch will start on January 14. Ordering will be closed throughout the session and will not be accepted past January 17. If you are already registered simply go to MunchaLunch.com and login to orderIf you have not yet registered your family, you will need to go to the Landing page provided for our school below.

  • Click the “Register Here” button (as shown below). The system will guide you through
  • After adding your children, click the green “Order Lunch!” button to order
  • Next time, just click the “Login Here” button to access your account.

Please note if your child is ill on a lunch date, you are welcome to come and pick up their lunch by 11:45am; otherwise please consider it a donation for a child who does not have a lunch. We appreciate your support for our lunch program as the funds go towards playground, fieldtrips and general fundraising within the school.

We are in need of Volunteers to help serve lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday.  There is a Volunteer page in the online system where you can checkmark which dates you are available.  The lunch coordinator will then contact you with a proposed schedule.  We can only offer a lunch program if we have Volunteers!

Fantastic Foodz: Local catering company.

Mac and Cheese- One serving includes 8oz portions. Contains wheat and dairy. Vegetarian.

Thai Rice Noodle Salad- Vegan and gluten free. Ingredients: Rice noodles, carrots, red pepper, green onion, cilantro, tofu, sesame seeds. Dressing: sesame oil, olive oil, ginger root, red chili flakes, soy sauce, rice vinegar, lime juice, sugar, sea salt. Served cold (also served at Oso Negro or Ellison’s market if you want to sample).

Real Good Foods: is the catering moniker of Wildflower mama Andria Green. She focuses on supporting local farmers and producers to create nourishing meals made with care for families and events. Andria will be working to balance affordability and sustainability by sourcing select ingredients locally and organically and by reaching out to our local community for support.

Salad Bar- a bed of greens with your choice of lots of fresh veggies, simple side salads and toppings, and a selection of dressings. Gluten and other allergens well labelled.

Rice Bowl- a scoop of rice with your choice of fresh and cooked veggies, vegetarian or meat protein side dishes, and a variety of fun toppings and sauces.

CC’s Sushi-located in Robson, supplies several schools and retailers (Co-op, and Save-On)

Holiday Fundraiser 2019

This fundraiser is now closed.

The PAC is excited to offer this fundraiser to Wildflower families and their friends – No.6 Coffee and Wildflower honey and candles, and wax wraps all crafted locally. Orders are due Monday, December 2nd in Anne’s office (Nelson), or in class (Creston). Products will be distributed on Thursday, December 12th.

Wildflower Honey and Candles

Honey is collected by Swan Valley Honey, a family-owned business who source their honey from local beehives spread throughout the Creston Valley. Honey bees thrive on local wildflowers, clover and alfalfa. The honey is pure and unpasteurized, and comes in jars with a special Wildflower label. The candles are made from pure beeswax. Wildflower Whitewater Ski Days 2020

Wildflower Ski Days have been booked for the following Fridays this winter: January 17, January 31, February 7, February 21, February 28, and March 6. Lessons are from 1:15-2:45pm

Please fill out the form and color waiver, below (they must be in colour, copies are also available in the office) and return it to Anne in the office. DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 28th.

Cross Country Ski Form for 2020

Forms are due back before December 2, 2019 – Wildflower X-Country Ski 2020 Form

The Nelson Nordic Ski Club (NNSC) will be facilitating x-country ski lessons for Wildflower School this year.

Dates:
January 10,  February 14, March 13

Time: 9:00 – 11:15 am
Cost: $12.00 per child per lesson, including ski/boot/pole rentals, $8.00 per parent if rental equipment is needed & you’re skiing with group
Location:  Apex X-Country Ski Area, located on Hwy 6 at the turn-off to Whitewater Ski Resort

Transportation: on own or by carpool

From the NNSC — This program offers elementary school children an affordable opportunity to learn basic fundamental x-country classic skiing techniques within a fun, game oriented field trip format.

** Parents wanting to ski on their own are more than welcome, you will purchase a trail pass at Apex.

Lessons will include:

  • Orientation in warming hut
  • Fitting for ski equipment
  • 3 sessions, on snow instruction and games
  • Hot drink and snacks in warming hut afterwards (provided by PAC/Parents)

PAC will provide hot chocolate for the participants at the end of each lesson, and parents can volunteer to provide a plate of baked goods or fruit for snack (ski co-ordinator will organize this).

Munchalunch!

Karee-Ann Stuart, coordinator of the REACH program has included the following information about the Hot Lunch program:
“The REACH Hot Lunch program is designed to provide our students an opportunity to develop life skills, as well as how to run a business. They learn how to cook, develop time management skills, customer service skills, budgeting, food prep, baking and interpersonal skills. All proceeds directly benefit programming at REACH – Food Safe Certification, First-Aid Certification, REACH Graduation ceremony, as well as a hardship fund for those who are struggling to provide for themselves outside of our programming”.

PAC Grocery Card Fundraiser 2019-2020

Students will be bringing home copies of the Wildflower-Grocery-Card-Order-Form_ Nov 2019, or you can fill out the form online here. If using a paper form, fill it out and return it to the Wildflower office , or easier yet,  take a photo or scan and e-mail it to groceries4wildflower@gmail.com

Did you know that PAC helps fund a whole lot of things in our school each year? Please help the PAC help our kids! Every dollar you spend on a grocery card will go towards your groceries. Save-on Foods and the Kootenay Co-op will contribute a percentage to our school based on the amount of cards that our school buys.
Payments can be made by Interac e-transfer or Credit card, in addition to cash or cheque. You can make onetime orders, or a monthly recurring order. You can choose to pick up your cards in the Wildflower school office or send them home with your child.
